I feel there is a season for all social media. Depending on the feel of people and the feel of your content depends where you should place your posts. For most people, Instagram is the safest place to put all your material. However, you will find that Instagram is not the magnet of attention that is perceived. People are trying to engage with those that like their posts. They want you to like back. If it is not your intention to be involved with what you are posting, then maybe Instagram is not where you should be posting. When you are a business operating on Instagram, you must be prepared to respond to the people that like your content. Yes, there are some beautiful things on Instagram but as a business, you are trying to offer more than beauty, you are trying to offer a pleasant life experience. Engagement is what attracts most people. On Instagram people can engage with exactly what interests them through hashtags. You must understand what causes interest and when that is interesting throughout the year. You can’t expect that a hashtag will be interesting indefinitely. Therefore, you must relate and build your audience and direct their attention to new and exciting things when you post as your hashtags can be followed within your post. You do not want to lead them in a direction that takes them extended distances from your post. Having them come back to your profile is hard to do but can be done if you know what is current in the feelings of interest. Most commonly Instagram is better in the spring and autumn. Just because you have the options available does not mean it is a good time to post but it is good to try and make it public. Many people are trying to lead the way to get more of their friends to use Snapchat. Snapchat is a good alternative to a reality show and your posts should reflect that. The best time to post on Snapchat about your day is in the evening on weekdays. It is not really for business unless you are a personality. You must be prepared to direct your readers to a webpage that explains the picture and words you posted. Pinterest is becoming more technological with in post videos, and people are exploring the internet through Pinterest. Pinterest is much like a dream board. It is a place where you can collect your inspirations for your big idea. Pinterest is something you must stay focused into what is driving you. Sometimes it is best to take things off your Pinterest that no longer flow in the direction of your intentions. Pinterest is for the weekend creative. Yes, you must do some preparation to get your ideas for the weekend, but it is a good medium for letting your ideas flow in your free time. Trying to get too much out of LinkedIn than it is designed for, can often leave people without a good flavor of your professional persona. LinkedIn is meant for you to set your boundaries with other people and hold strong to them. Inviting your work environment into your entire life is not the intention. When using LinkedIn, you must have a clear vision for your audience and have the old 3% return for engagement in mind. Some people are good at Twitter, I would say that you must be careful about your Twitter. Twitter has a way of connecting with all your other social media channels and people can see everything that you have done. You must have a clear conscious and be like minded with the intent to get messages out. Twitter is definitely a good source during your work day as it is quick, and you can respond or get to know someone with all their quarks quite easily. Finally, I´ll hit on WhatsApp again in this edition of the magazine. WhatsApp is something that you want to be your friend. People want to demonstrate their work-life balance. WhatsApp is the perfect application for that. You can see people personally and professionally. It is best to use WhatsApp about as many times as you pick up the phone. Of course, sometimes you want to get away from things all together so taking WhatsApp on vacation is not the best idea. Probably using Duo or Viber are best when on vacation to separate your core lifestyle. Telegram, although they entertain a light heart, is best for showing your lighter side at work even when being serious. Serving the rich consumer The clothing company Gap would do very well if they began to sell a line of clothing that resembled baby clothing but for grown men and women. I call it Adult-Baby Gap. This is especially a good market in the originating country of the States. The reason being is that the company culture that is becoming customary is to administer to any desire that patrons come to find as a need to be happy. Companies are now beginning to be expected to cater to any whim the clientele can dream up. If anything, and I mean anything is wrong with a product, it must be accepted in return for a replacement for something better. Something causing the slightest rattle or discomfort is obviously a sign of an inferior product, and that is beyond comprehension that a brand consumers trust can possibly offer for sale something that makes even one person unhappy. Even if the product breaks with use of irrational caudling, that is something that the company did not expect and is therefore the companies fault and not the consumers. Companies must prepare for any use of their product, leaving no stone unturned, with every possible intention covered to be a use for the product to function for any needed desire. If a product breaks for any use, anything that is dreamed up by the user; if the ability of the product does not meet the demands of every dream, then measures by the company must be made to fulfill those dreams. Even if they digress from the direction of the company and the vision for their products intended use. One example of such company is Tesla. Because is it a technology company, the obvious statement is that anything is possible. So, with their products, anything can be achieved. Whatever function a customer needs must be made available. Whatever control a customer needs must be made a reality within seconds, because the car is online. But, take for example Gates Notes. I’m talking about the man, Bill Gates. His program Notes is much different than anybody else’s or even my own. Because he has the ability and know how, he can make his program, that he offers for sale, to work for himself in incredible ways. If you look at what Bill Gates publishes through his program Notes, you will most certainly be impressed what masters of their own universes create for themselves to share. I don’t even deserve the right to create what he is able because I haven’t even used Notes to the full extent that I should. But knowing through his own effort that I can utilize Notes for my own interest to progress is a promise that I can better myself with Microsoft. Tesla is a different beast. Elon, to some degree isn’t utilizing his own creation to express himself more. He wants the public to express themselves through his product. And I’m sure they can. But his users feel they can’t do it without him. That they must ask for everything to take the next step forward. I call that being a baby. I disagree with God a lot. I even call him a hypocrite, but for good purpose… to be a hypocrite to show us what a hypocrite really is. I don’t know who said ask and you will receive. Maybe it was Jesus. But really, I think Jesus also wanted you to do some things on your own. I’m not sure if that is in the Bible but it should be. With technology it is expected that you simply need to look for something and it should be available to use. Putting things together to work from various resources to meet any desire is the reality we live in. But with the companies becoming countries of their own, independent sources of nature (technological metalogical natures), they are required to sustain the dependence on the infrastructure they planned. So if there is a pothole in stratosphere of the electronic giant’s universe, the taxes in bought consumer items must pay for the required fixes to the system. WhatsApp has continued to be a progressive and unobtrusive platform that is becoming professional in nature as it continues to grow along the true desires of the community. There are areas where advertising quickly becomes obnoxious. These areas, like most things in Colombia that irritate, become illegal instantly if not before they cause all value to be ripped away. This is the purpose of the rich. It often seems as if to stifle and allow for no progress. But, it is to keep the most treacherous darkness of society from presenting itself to the mass public. This may in some cases seem like China, but there are more freedoms here in Colombia. The babies in Colombia are the rich. Everything must be done for them. You can talk down to anybody that has less money than you. But people are tremendously happy being poor in Colombia. People enjoy the fruit of the land, literally and figuratively. Being a poor Colombian in mind, body and spirit, is a feeling of happiness that only God intended to be worn with a smile. People never work for themselves here. They are always working for others. Just the same as a baby is rich in the world for being born, the wealthy in Colombia are rich in spirit for the view they have on the world based on the money they hold. Believing hand over heal what the rich promise is a commonality in the South. Unlike believing the consumer as the one who holds on the answers like in the North, the rich in the South have all the answers. Esto es muy diferente en Colombia. Puede hablar con cualquiera que tenga menos dinero que usted. Pero la gente está tremendamente feliz de ser pobre en Colombia. La gente disfruta del fruto de la tierra, literal y figurativamente. Ser un pobre colombiano en mente, cuerpo y espíritu, es un sentimiento de felicidad que solo Dios quería que se use con una sonrisa. La gente nunca trabaja para ellos aquí. Ellos siempre están trabajando para otros. Al igual que Elon. One of their most beautiful creations was that of the earth and water, expressing the plants and the animals and how the two animals when turned were both together the fire of the phoenix. For the las three years Edison has mostly been doing murals and shirts with the airbrush creating pieces that are extraordinary to wear and be seen, as in the video of the Cosmos being painted on the model Milu. This was done in a theater in Cajicá. To do this correctly, low light is needed and a black light with fluorescent colors. The original music in the video was also done by a DJ found in Cajicá. Fercho completes odd jobs with various artists and masons around town. He knows many people in the town and carries on about his day talking to everyone that he is familiar with. It is easy to get lost for a day with Fercho as he meanders from one place to another looking for a story of his own. Fercho has created, most notably the art in the restaurant La Fogata. His art ordains the walls. There, most are murals that were carved from wood and then painted. These include flowers, birds and animals as well as abstract art. The pieces themselves can be very weighty because the canvas is wood. One of his more creative pieces, which is located for all to see at the entrance of the restaurant foyer, is that of a nude woman facing backwards amid flowers and plants of many colors; created for Mother’s Day last year. Fercho also constructed the back of the restaurant in the exterior outside. Here he ordained the walls with glass bottles and held them in place with timber and mud. Some of his other pieces outside include birds like pelicans painted on old cut up tires. Fercho seems to also know a lot about plants. He knows which are medicinal and which are best for tea. As he led me through Cajicá we came across many plants that he solicited me to strip a few branches of the trees to bring home to sample in my own aromatic. We found fruit, vegetables, pepper corns and other interesting plants aligning the streets of the town that were simply at the hands of the knowledgeable enthusiast to sample. I was led to the house of Guillermo who is a radical, making bombs of seeds to spread natural supplements to the insects and birds who otherwise would suffer at the loss of environment to the farmer. Guillermo hosts tourists to his finca to create the seed bombs, and then allows them to travel on with their adventure to throw them along the side of the road as they travel. Guillermo is also an avid bee keeper and small shepherd of geese, pigs, dogs, and chickens. He feels he is self-sustainable right in the middle of town. Fercho and I spent a good deal of time interviewing Guillermo before heading on with the rest of our adventure for the day. After leaving the finca of Guillermo we ran into Martín who has a collection of fossils he wants to show and share with me. Time passed quickly with Fercho and he enjoyed himself in my company, but I wasn’t one to mind. We continued exploring Cajicá and having a coffee to talk about shipping. Fercho as an artist can ship his merchandise world wide and clean his hands of any shipping occurrence by taking pictures of the products and art before they leave for their destination. This leaves him not responsible for any loss, breakage, or need to return anything that he sells. After the coffee, we were soon to end our day because the rain was expected to come down any second and we had to part ways. As he road off on his bike to be caught in the rain, I took shelter in the convenience store with some other characters of Cajicá to wait for the opportunity to finish my walk home. I’m sure I will run into Fercho again, and if he can open my eyes to more interesting things that this town has to offer, I welcome the opportunity. This has created the need for clients to see that WhatsApp is connected on the business card. But, some people who oversee the number on the business card are not the owners of the business in all cases, as the owner can not be responsible for all sales. So, other numbers are used on the business cards that are not necessarily the owner or proprietary representative of the company. The person in charge of the phone number is an employee who must manage the inbound calls like a secretary. With only one number to call on the business card and many different types of calls, the responsibility for the so-called secretary can be tremendous. It is not possible to forward calls and messages directly to a person that may be responsible for the intended inbound call and the secretary can be overwhelmed with the few options available. It is no wonder that some holders of the phone numbers leave the position of the business or all together get a new phone number to relinquish themselves of all past responsibility to the company. This leaves the company in a position where they must print and redistribute new business cards. Changing phone numbers is very common in the Sabana Centro. People would register their cell phone numbers with the company, and the company would answer all calls and messages from WhatsApp and Facebook first before they are relayed to the owner of the number. Of course, some messages would have the ability to bypass the company and go directly to the individual, including family, friends, and direct business partners. Otherwise, the call center would act as liaison to forward messages and calls to the appropriate people within the organization without disclosing the contact details of those people. This means there could be sales, marketing, operations, billing, and logistics all able to be connected through one WhatsApp account number. The call center would read the messages forwarded from potential clients or observers and redirect them to the correct party within the organization to that individuals personal WhatsApp number. The same should be done for physical land lines. If there is a land line that the company uses, the call center can take the burden off the company of being responsible for fielding all calls, and redirect calls to office extensions or other numbers entirely from within the call center. Every day he picks up the milk from the cows on the homestead that are milked at around 4:30am in the mornings. Domingo must walk around the homestead to where the cows are in the field carrying a cart strapped to his back with wheels. The cows are not always in the same spot, so with the farmer and the milking people, Domingo must plot a course to go to all the cows with his wagon. He lives inside the finca in a holding fence that is somewhat in the middle of the property. His master, Elicer straps him to his cart early in the morning and prepares the beginning of the day with him. Each cow over the course of a week produces six canisters of milk that are 40 liters each and there are about 20-30 cows on the homestead. Depending on when the truck to the refinery comes, Domingo must load all the canisters onto his wagon with Elicer and walk the length of the finca and the depth of the homestead to the road at the bottom of the property that goes to town. Once arriving there, usually the milk tanker is already almost full at 4:00pm on the days it arrives. So that being the case, the canisters in full must be loaded onto the bottom of the tanker and later after they have been dispensed are they returned to Elicer and Domingo to once again fill on their daily effort. This picture represents a moment in time when Domingo is at his best. The farm and homestead are working seamlessly as an opportunistic farming team during township expansion. Much of what you see in the picture no longer exists. It is a photo to cherish in the fruits of labor between man and animal. I think from my own experience that big luxury brands tried their time in Colombia with absent success since people cannot boisterously demonstrate their social class at all times on the community streets. However, brands like H&M and Zara, most notably the biggest brands in the world have been able to enter the Sabana Centro with much success. There was an explosion of prices when Fontanar first opened and it wasn’t until Falabella opened that people found an opportunity to afford things at the mall. Then with H&M and Zara moving in the price variant between expectations and acceptance of affordability for the general patrons was met. Now Fontanar is highly competitive and sets the price quotient for living above average with the help of the big-name brands. The clothing landscape has also changed within the last year. People can now wear name brands from Boss, Zegna and others and the female clothes are directed towards the working woman. There is hope and inspiration for middle age women to focus on work and become very involved in the community. Men’s stores will follow, but the choice is obvious and always has been that of Arturo Calle. Towns like Cajicá, Chía, and Tabio are now offering desirable locations for hip stores to move in and bring a sense of well deserved class to the options of the area. One example is Koaj in Cajicá that is a model of Western culture and ideology with its store front. The company culture is that of freedom and the spirit of trying new things, a welcome invitation to anybody living within the termination of the Milla de Oro. Driven by my childhood dream of seeing a toco toucan in person and by that feeling when you want to overcome a big challenge, I and my friend decided to spend ten days in the Amazonia. I had a very vague idea what to expect and I was nursing my fear of catching some strange and terrible disease being bitten by all kinds of insects. Nevertheless the air tickets were bought and so we left Lima and its pleasant climate. After a one and half hour flight we arrived in Tarapoto. Before landing I was stuck to the window trying to adapt my eyes to the green and again green dominating the lush vegetation just about everywhere. I could see a wide meandering brown river and thought, wow that is the real jungle! Outside the very small airport hall numerous moto taxi drivers were trying to offer their service so we picked one and immediately switched to bargaining Asia-style mode. I ordered the driver to take us to the terminal as we were about to take a colectivo to the port town of Yurimaguas. We had read some blogs where other travelers recommend taking a slow cargo ship until Iquitos. The ship should leave about every day in the early morning and you should bring your supplies of water, a hammock and a bowl with cutlery. We didn’t make the trip in the end, but a few more times we heard from other travelers that it is very cool and you are most likely to meet interesting people there. Sin embargo, se compraron los boletos de avión y así salimos de Lima y su agradable clima. Después de un vuelo de una hora y media llegamos a Tarapoto. Antes de aterrizar, me quedé pegado a la ventana tratando de adaptar mis ojos al verde y de nuevo al verde, dominando la exuberante vegetación en casi todos lados. Text Our plans changed completely after we met a guy named Ebere waiting for us at the terminal of Yurimaguas. The two hour ride wasn’t as turbulent as you might expect. I didn’t get carsick and in a very good mood, I was chatting with the driver while admiring the beautiful countryside. The winding road was in good conditions and it was safe. Some years ago while Peru struggled with their terrorist groups we wouldn’t dare to take the risk of being kidnapped. It all reminded me Laos, or Southeast Asia. People were nice and smiling, countryside poor and I was imaging a great variety of cheap jungle fruits supply in the local markets. That one turned out to be far from the truth, nevertheless the markets are colorful and worth visiting with your camera ready. I will never forget the market we found the first morning in Iquitos, somewhere east of the city center, a place to see; with so many vultures residing just at its doorstep, that it took my appetite away. But let’s get back to the terminal in Yurimaguas. As I learnt from the driver and the girl traveling with us there are also fast boats operated by various companies as the locals of course don’t share the same backpackers’ romantic ideas and are not willing to take that sluggish cargo ship. The price isn’t that bad either and we could reach our goal in just one day instead of 4. We had expected to see the amazon from the boat which would save us a lot of money. But that would be a great mistake. Once there I definitely recommend the national reserve Pacaya Samiria. Due to its complicated name, that took me several days to remember, I didn’t even know I had read about it. It was this Ebere trying to sell us a tour which we luckily didn’t buy who gave us this brilliant tip. Thanks to him persuading us, we decided to spend the time required for the boat ride in the reserve. I recommend you book your tour online during high season (there are four local companies operating in the area, their product is pretty much the same) or like us, over the phone that same evening. We were very lucky as we realized some days later. Upon our arrival in the little village called Lagunas the owner of the agency / Acatupel, the oldest one, waited for us in the port to take us to the office. Her name is Mara, just like my friend’s! She let our extremely young guide explain the details of the trip and we decided to make it last four days (anything between one day to one month is possible and now I wish we had enough time and money to make those four weeks). One day costs 150 soles, which provides food, water, a place to sleep and in our case an excellent guide, cook and a canoe driver in one. In spite of his age (just 21) Kadir has a great working experience background, basically he was born there in the jungle and followed his father’s footsteps. He proved to be a great guide who knows the place like his own backyard, he could easily navigate after dark, find our hut, make dinner and be consistently nice, smiling and informative. We were his first vegan clients. That meant not much variety in our meals, bananas and oranges for breakfast, rice, potatoes, fried banana, onions and tomatoes for the rest of the day. Meat-eaters would also get eggs and fresh fish. I didn’t mind this diet during my four days, but if we went for longer time I would bring at least some nuts, oats and dried fruits. The first and the last night we stayed in the hut built by guides from our agency, there are always some guides taking shifts there, watching it and keeping the fire. There are simple beds with a mattress and mosquito nets with holes, so my advice is to arrange the bed before it gets dark. That hut has a power generator, so there is electricity for a few hours if you need to charge your camera, cellphone has no service which means no internet and that is one of the reasons I could completely relax. There is a simple toilet that you flush with the river water and you can also have your bucket shower. We were told it is not dangerous to swim in the river during the day, unless you are bleeding piranhas are no threat, but never swim after dark! There are electric fish that could easily kill you. So you can have a swim during the day, but in the evening, a bucket is a safer option. There is no danger of malaria in the area but there are a lot of other annoying hungry mosquitos. Pero eso sería un gran error. Una vez allí, definitivamente recomiendo la reserva nacional Pacaya Samiria. Debido a su nombre complicado, eso me tomó varios días para recordar, ni siquiera sabía que había leído sobre él. Fue este Ebere tratando de vendernos una gira que afortunadamente no compramos, que nos dio esta brillante sugerencia. The amount and variety of animals you will be able to see depends mostly on the season, whether it rains or not, how high the river is, how deep in the jungle you get depending on the number of days, how experienced your guide is and of course all the matter of luck. Our guide could spot birds and monkeys long before we were finally able to see them. He also explained facts and his own stories. He even climbed a tree, cut a branch with a sloth attached to it and brought it down for us. That was the closest we got to a wild animal! After dark we also tried to find crocodiles at the river banks and went for a night walk where we saw gigantic trees with a tarantula. Kadir shared scary legends and his own stories about jungle spirits. Jungle people might seem superstitious, like our new friend Georgie, who told me a story he was bitten by a river snake whose bite separates you from death by the span of one hour. Well, he believes he survived and was saved also thanks to the fact that he was able to kill that snake, as he said, just one will survive. Fortunately it was him! There are a lot of medicinal plants in the jungle. Locals can cure basically anything, they even told us AIDS and cancer are possible, you just need to know which plant, when and how to harvest it. Luckily locals still preserve the knowledge. There is one plant in particular that many foreigners are desperate to try on their own. Mara from the agency arranged for us a ceremony of ayahuasca with the local shaman. Then we managed to take part in one more ceremony while in Iquitos. There, the shaman was a woman and we were in a group, so I was relaxed and enjoyed it more. It is a unique experience which will be very different for everybody. Prior, a dietary preparation is required. You will need to find a shaman that you can trust. The prices vary from 100 to about 250 soles. Iquitos is a place where you will both suddenly miss the quietness of the jungle, will be able to finally dry and wash your clothes and enjoy the variety of food. In our case the choice was easy, a Peruvian version of Chinese restaurant, called Chifa, the name in a funny way remindsme of the Chinese words chi and fan; which means to eat, to dine. Seems there, in the jungle everybody eats chicken! Also our Chifa was a polleria, and so we ordered a dish that could be called chicken with vegetables without chicken. The portion was huge, and got us ready for town adventures. Hay un inodoro simple que se enjuaga con el agua del río y también puede tener su ducha cubo. Text It was truly a pleasure to visit Rio Neusa after my visit to the salt mines in Nemocón. We traveled by car, myself not knowing exactly what direction we were traveling. But my driver, Salomón seeming to drive by heart in the direction of the river without ever glancing for directions as if he knew the way like the back of his hand. We traveled through several small towns and took pictures along the way. There were horses and cows along the way, plenty of quaint little restaurants and lots of greenery. There are only a select number of grilling stations within the park and the space is not unlimited. As we gathered our things from the car, we took a walk across the river of Rio Neusa. It was a tremendous sight. The water was pristine, and the plants looked as if they were out of the Jurassic period they were so large. The area was lush with vegetation but well maintained and clean. Other people were already in the park playing volleyball and soccer. We had the river bank open to us to select a place for our lunch. There were plenty of grilling stations to choose from. We came to about the middle of the park and decided to go with the main structure as it provided the most shelter for our grilling. We set down our stuff and began to explore immediately. The river was beautiful as it poured over the large smooth rocks within the waters. The sound was tranquil and very relaxing. Green grass was everywhere, and the children began to want to see our neighbors who also came to have their lunch at the banks of the river. Salomón and his wife Dolly had planned this trip to the T. Everything was already prepared we just had to put the condiments together. The salad was the first thing that was started to be prepared as myself and Salomón began to light the coals for the fire. I even got to take home some beef, which I savored later. We all took pictures to capture the moment together. It was an international gathering of elites. Renovations to make a dramatic difference After a grueling year long search, countless open houses, and one house lost in a bidding war we found our home. To save on costs we chose to take on all the painting ourselves...which was a huge undertaking. I’m talking all ceilings, all walls, all trim and multiple coats! I don’t think we realized; one, what a huge task it was and two, that in certain spaces the contractor was unable to move forward until we completed painting. While I’m glad we did it it was a grueling several months and I’m pretty sure I gave myself carpel tunnel. Can you share ways that your contractor helped you get the project done? We really wanted to stick to a budget. Once our contractor realized we were quite handy we were able to figure out what we could do vs. what we should leave to the professionals. There were three main obstacles: adding a door for backyard access, the ceiling height, and a non-negotiable double oven. I initially wanted to enlarge the back window above the sink to make it a focal point and let in more natural light. Not far along I had to abandon that idea as we were concerned with what the enlarged opening would do to the structural integrity of the home given its age. It was also a huge expense. I chose to use those dollars elsewhere. In the end we made the window above the sink slightly smaller to allow for a proper back-splash. We replaced the second window with a door and added a small landing and stairs for easy backyard access. The next question was how to vent the hood, given the height of the ceilings and that we chose to go with open shelving which left nowhere to hide it. Ultimately we left the ducting exposed and vented it directly through the wall outside. I love how the exposure adds an industrial element to the newly renovated space. Lastly, where to fit the double oven. I was initially concerned that I would be giving up valuable pantry space but the layout could not have worked out more perfectly and there is room for everything we wanted, even the custom built in taps. We are home brewing enthusiasts and wanted to add a unique feature in our kitchen to showcase that. While this was a first for our contractor, he humored us and helped us with the installation. With easy access we can also change it up and connect to cold brewed coffee or wine when we are entertaining. We wanted to have a master bedroom, master closet, master bathroom, guest bedroom and laundry room. The tricky part was figuring out where to put everything. The preexisting kitchen allowed us to easily add laundry on the floor without a huge expense. Once that was decided for us everything else fell into place. We were even able to add two more closets that mirror each other in both bedrooms and still have a separate master closet. The master closet is one of my favorite rooms and elicits the most satisfying reaction from friends now that it’s done. It was a small room that we converted and had the contractor close off one of the entrances. He finished it as an empty room and we used Ikea Pax planner to build our dream closet. My favorite splurge on the second floor was heated bathroom floor; worth every penny in the winter. In my quest for answers to this very question that have invaded my mind, I coincidentally spoke with Dr. Cesar Bentacourt of La Sabana University in Colombia on a very cold and wet day in Bogotá. His words were completely revealing. We were just talking about generosity, charity, philanthropy, peace, joy and happiness. In fact, this is going to be a revelation you have never imagined and you will be surprised. Dr. Cesar defined philanthropy as generosity which may have arisen because of fame but charity as an act of helping people without looking for the reduction in tax payment or anything in return. He further said that "charity is a solution for stress." I have never thought about that until that very day I spoke with Dr. Cesar. This is without a shadow of doubt on my mind that I realized that my interviewee had a philosophy of giving which is a bit difficult to explain to people who don`t believe in giving. Now when I look at man reaching out to God with a limp hand and God reaching out with an outstretched arm, I see man training God to come to him. God wants to make man happy. But, man can only accept God as he knows him. Man’s understanding of God is different for everyone. Allowing God into your life can be difficult, if not scary for some people. Creating scenarios and imaginary moments in one’s mind for the day when God will enter your life is common practice for most people. Having that day arrive, can be put off for generations. Many people want God to enter their lives but believe that with the world the way it is he cannot. People continue to see the misery around them as an excuse that the perfect God is unable to enter their imperfect lives. But isn’t that what makes God perfect? If man would learn to shed the scum under his nails and look to the day as a chance to bring God into his life, to find direction in life, and the desire to live an eternal life without time, his hands would be fresh and sturdy enough to accept the touch of God. Training oneself to have a healthy, clean and open mind towards meeting God right here and now and within this very time and place we are calling the present will erase any need to look at the Sistine Chapel ceiling again. Knowing God is present in our daily world and that he may enter your life, even briefly, knowing at that one moment everything you have been taught, everything you have believed in, everything everyone else has believed in, everything that people will continue to believe in, is going to create a moment where you are given the choice to accept one reality for another. The home is a house where they share food together, home cooked food, that otherwise might be absent in their lives because they are unable to cook for themselves any longer and have no one to prepare them the things that satisfy them. In most geriatric homes there is a dining room where the community of the home can come together to share their food with other people. The patients within the home spend a lot of time together, sometimes six or seven years with the same people. Some geriatric homes are small and only have a maximum capacity of 17 people. Her real family is happy that she is there because she suffers from some diseases and in the home, she can get care for her body and mind.
