Your Perfect Evening In
by KIM MCCARTHY
I'm so grateful for the partnerships and collaborations in my life, personally and professionally. While the world is reeling in headline chaos, my network offers extensions of support, whether it be financially or in spirit.
How can you not be in a state of grace when you have that in your life?
If you aren't sure you are in a state of grace, then let it begin with you. Start in your area(s) of expertise by offering it to the universe and see who responds. I guarantee someone will. And this will grow.
If you are a brand or executive, please consider also reading The Cannabis Sessions, our sister publication. That is where you will read about our partnership with the Last Prisoner Project, professionals who seek Fair Chance employment after cannabis conviction or incarceration.
Let me assure you, these are amazingly talented individuals who should be contributing to your brands and teams. They need an opportunity just as much as you need access to these professionals.
We need to build bridges so that we can cross them. We need to cross bridges so that we can help others who might otherwise be out of reach.
Please consider partnering with us, which includes my primary brand - The Pipeline: Strategies - so that we can complete the impact, letting others enjoy gratitude in the process.
Let's do more of that.

Beyond Skin Deep
The ECS is responsible for skin cell differentiation, proliferation, and immune competence.
It naturally produces endocannabinoids known as Anandamide and 2-AG through hair follicles, sebaceous glands, and the epidermis in response to deficiency. However, sometimes this is not enough and where products made from full spectrum whole plant hemp come into play.
Psst! Check out Potency No. 710's Gold Serum CBD oil and other skincare products!
Acne: Cannabidiol exerts sebostatic and anti-inflammatory effects on human sebocytes.
The ECS is made up of cannabinoid receptors - CB1 (primarily found in the central nervous system) and CB2 (prevalent in the skin and immune cells) - that work directly with a host of cannabinoids to maintain homeostasis, naturally:
"Where the body may be lacking, nature provides."
By not nourishing the ECS via cannabinoids, your skin could essentially become deficient, resulting in damage or disease.

Eczema: A therapeutic effect of CBD-enriched ointment in inflammatory skin diseases and cutaneous scars.
Let The Science Talk
Psoriasis: Cannabinoids inhibit human keratinocyte proliferation through a non-CB1/CB2 mechanism and have a potential therapeutic value in the treatment of psoriasis.
The endocannabinoid system (ECS) plays a significant role in the overall state of our health. It affects everything from synaptic plasticity and nervous system development, to psychological and physical responses.
Cannabis-related imagery on branding and packaging, along with keywords such as "calming", "relaxing", or "de-stress", to seemingly give consumers the false impression that the product contains CBD.
If product simply states hemp oil, chance are it contains very miminal CBD content.
CBD Oil - Derived from the stalks, leaves, and flowers (buds) of mature hemp plants through CO2 or ethanol extraction.
What To Do
50mg CBD minimum for anti-inflammatory effects
100mg CBD for anti-aging properties
150mg CBD for pain relieving properties
Be sure the product clearly states it contains cannabinoids, CBD, cannabidiol, or is full-spectrum, whole-spectrum, or labeled as a full plant product.
Ensure the product comes from a reputable source.
Ensure product brand offers transparency in their manufacturing processes as well as their testing procedures.
Look for testing and certificates of analysis (COAs).
Hemp Seed Oil - Made from hemp seeds through a process known as cold press extraction. This type of oil can be compared to others such as rosehip seed oil or jojoba oil, which can provide nourishment and anti-inflammatory properties, but is not rich in CBD and is not the same as CBD oil.
Did you know cosmetic companies may be claiming their products contain CBD but, in fact, may be made from hemp seed oil and contain barely any CBD, if any at all?
It's called Weed Washing.
The Oil Difference
What To Look For
You can determine potency by evaluating the concentrations of each cannabinoid present in the sample.
Residual Solvent Screen - This term tests for the presence of sny solvent left over from the extraction process. Common solvents include butane, ethanol, or hexane. This is relevant for extracts, including oils and vapes, but not to dry flower.
Results - Limits for each type of contaminants are established. You should always ensure that your cannabis has passed all of the tests for contaminants.
BLQ - Below Level of Quantification - Concentrations so small they do not meet the qualifying threshold for cannabinoid content.
LOQ - Limit of Quantification - Smallest concentration that can be accurately quantified.
LOD - Limit of Detection - Smallest amount of cannabinoids that can be detected by the instrument.
Loss on Drying - Many COAs also provide information on the water content of a strain. This can be expressed as "moisture method", "moisture content", or "loss on drying." Loss on drying tests for the percentage of water content in the final product.
A Certificate of Analysis (CoA) is a document provided by a third party (generally, a lab) that analyzes the various compounds found in your cannabis, whether it be marijuana or hemp. This can include outlining a strain's cannabinoid and terpene profile, as well as testing for other crucial factors like pesticide residues or heavy metals. You can also find other information in a CoA such as manufacturer information, testing method used, and batch data.
While not all manufacturers are not required to provide CoAs, you may be able to find them available online. Your local budtender may also be able to point you in the right direction. Some products even have scannable QR codes that link directly to a CoA report. You can get CoAs for many different cannabis products including flower, tincture, and even edibles.
The ultimate function of a CoA is to ensure a product's content matches what was advertised. As such, the first element to consider when reading a CoA is who the test was conducted buy. This information can be found at the top of the first page.
- by JANELLE LASALLE
Residual Solvent Screen - This term tests for the presence of any solvent left over from the extraction process. Common solvents include butane, ethanol, or hexane. This is relevant for extracts, including oils and vapes, but not to dry flower.
You should always check to ensure the company that performed the test is NOT the original manufacturer, as this is the best way to ensure independence and impartiality.
To the right of this column, you'll find potency results. Potency is determined by measuring the concentration of the cannabinoids present in terms of total percentage by weight (mass). This can also be expressed as cannabinoid concentration in milligrams and may be featured in a column titled "Conc", short for concentration.
Most CoAs will list cannabinoids in a column on the far left. This column may be labeled , "ID," "Analyst," or even just the name of the cannabinoids, themselves. Both major cannabinoids, THC or CBD, as well as minor cannabinoids like THCa are reflected here.
Pesticides - CoAs often test for a variety of pesticides or plant growth (PGRs) commonly used on cannabis.
The current prototype has a woodsy, rustic look, but painted versions of the product will also be produced to offer a more standard cabinet for consumers.
Building with Hempwood avoids cutting trees, preventing a ripple effect on deforestation and having an impact on soils.
Hemp breathes four times more carbon dioxide than other trees, contributing to better air quality.
Hempwood is a sustainable material, given the plant's ability to grow in only 90 days in comparison to trees, which can take more than two decades to mature.
"We're taking something that grows in six months and we're able to replicate, if not out-perform, a tropical hardwood that grows in 200 years."
- Greg Wilson, Leader, Fibonacci
Made from compressed hemp stalks and sealed with a soy-based adhesive, Hempwood offers significant advantages over traditional lumber - including a higher availability, a much quicker grow time of five to six months, and a 20% higher density. It can be used in furniture, flooring, and other woodworking projects.
"Hemp is substantially more environmentally sustainable when compared to traditional hardwood species more commonly used in building materials."
- Karim Bhibah, CEO, Eastland Group of Companies
The Eastland Group of Companies is a manufacturer of kitchen cabinets, bathroom vanities, moulderings, and custom building materials.
Fibonacci is a Kentucky-based business that transforms hemp stalk to building-grade hardwood.
Since 2019, the two companies have been working together to develop applications for Hempwood in every day building materials.

Over the past year, we have gone from presenting the concept in text-chat form, to holding webinars, giving us an opportunity to bring the concept of Hemp Communities alive while allowing for Q&A and other discussions.
The goal of the webinars is to present the community's intention, infrastructure, and needs, as much as introduce the ROI for investors, donors, sponsors, and resource providers.

Givers, Donors, & Mike
While under quarantine, some have taken on hobbies, crafts, or home maintenance. Mike Robinson, Cannabis Compassionate Activist and R&D with products in development, has been busy reaching out for donations - cannabinoids, postal supplies and funds, and more.
His goal is to make this stressful time easier by supplying hemp-derived cannabinoids such as CBD and CBG to as many people as he can, and to as many who reach out to him through a website created specifically for Mike's compassionate giving activities.
Now, he needs your help.
"Every time someone pays for their own postage, it allows for someone else to get a package. Donations are greatly appreciated."

Use CBD honey to mitigate the anxious effects of caffeine. It's even wonderful as an addition to cocktails or over almond butter on toast.
CBD honey seems to be used most often as an addition to tea. It's only natural - people utilize both honey and CBD in tea all the time. People who drink chai or matcha to wake up often find that CBD honey keeps them from getting jumpy. Similarly, when they grab chamomile to wind down after a long day, they report that CBD helps them slip into more easily into a relaxed headspace..
Remember: Oil and water don't mix. CBD is an oil that won't properly disperse in hot water. Maximize the bioavailability by drinking water-soluble CBD tea.
Hemp Communities is jumping into action to help during COVID19. We have partnered with Doug Sarbaugh of Half4Humanity out of Boulder, CO, to offer over the ear, reusable masks.
By purchasing a mask, you not only help employ a disadvantaged person, but half of the proceeds benefit the homeless. For our part, The Pipeline: Strategies is working with groups and organizations to develop funding campaigns, thereby increasing the opportunity to help others.
All this for $10/mask (BULK orders are available). Please help us help others.
Tony had a perfect life - until his wife, Lisa, died. After that tragic event, the formerly nice guy changed.
After contemplating taking hs life, Tony decides he would rather live long enough to punish the world by saying and doing whatever he likes.
He thinks of it as a super power, not caring about himself or anybody else, but it ends up being trickier than he envisioned when his friends and family try to save the nice guy that they used to know.
Your Perfect Evening In
After Life. It's on Netflix. Have you seen it? It's a dark comedy with sincere touchpoints sure to affect your soul; not just your heart.
Ricky Gervais writes about flawed characters that he paints into heart-felt stories, becoming sincerely real to the viewer.
Watching the short but highly acclaimed series (only six episodes per season!), gives me the same experience I had reading Angela's Ashes (Frank McCourt) - one moment tears are staining my cheeks and, before they are dried or wiped away, I'm laughing uncontrollably in the next.
That's a true gift from the After Life team to the viewer. Consider this review as our "gifting forward" to you.
Pixie is our constant companion who suffers from separation anxiety, causing anxiousness in other areas of her life. I spoke to Dr. Rachel Knox (www.knoxdoctors.com) who suggested starting her on CBD.
It's been one month since we started supplementing Pixie's endocannabinoid system (ECS). We started her on JustCBD (Pets) brand - 500mg. She's unsure of the bacon flavor but does eat her tincture-infused treats after giving a sniff and proper consideration. I'm unsure if it's the flavor, aroma, or if she's disapproving of her treats being tinkered with, but it's something to consider as we find our way. Thankfully, JustCBD has additional flavors available.
Our goal is to balance Pixie's ECS while giving her comfort in her emotional state, instead of chattering and panicking that she could be left behind. I'm not gonna lie - this is going to be a long journey. The first phase is getting the dosage right and, since it is a trial by basis and observation, we're confident it will come together. In the meantime, let's just say Pixie's very satisfied getting extra treats.
This is our very own Pixie Blue giving the sniff test to her tincture-infused treats .

When your heart is open, please consider a rescue.
A dry herb vape is similar to a pipe in some ways, with a chamber to put loose leaf in its crushed form. From there, the loose leaf is heated and users can inhale the vapor that comes from the chamber.
The only difference (and a big one!) here is that there’s no combustion here: no smoke comes out as the chamber is kept well below combustion temperatures to ensure that no smoke is released.
