(J. C. Ryle) “Unity without the gospel is a worthless unity; it is the very unity of hell.” (Psalm 133:1) “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity!” (John Calvin) “The only true bond of Church unity is Christ the Lord, who has reconciled us to God the Father, and will gather us out of our present dispersion into the fellowship of His body, that so, through His one Word and Spirit, we may grow together into one heart and one soul.”
Presider: Jim Jung Preacher: Sijin Yang CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 95:1-6 “Oh come, let us sing to the Lord; let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation! Let us come into his presence with thanksgiving; let us make a joyful noise to him with songs of praise! For the Lord is a great God, and a great King above all gods. In his hand are the depths of the earth; the heights of the mountains are his also. The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Oh come, let us worship and bow down; let us kneel before the Lord, our Maker!” SILENT CONFESSION Let us prepare our hearts by privately confessing our sins to our loving Heavenly Father. Be honest before God, and bear your heart and soul to Him. Thank Him and Praise Him for the good things; and confess those sins you knowingly and unknowingly commit, even the sin of omitting the good that you ought to have done. (Silent Private Prayer) ASSURANCE OF PARDON (In Christ, our sins are covered!) Psalm 103:8, 13-14 “The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The Lord is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. As a father shows compassion to his children, so the Lord shows compassion to those who fear him. For he knows our frame; he remembers that we are dust.” PRAYER OF ADORATION AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Heidelberg Catechism – Lord’s Day #21 – OF GOD THE HOLY GHOST 54. What do you believe concerning the “Holy Catholic Church?” That out of the whole human race,[1] from the beginning to the end of the world,[2] the Son of God,[3] by His Spirit and Word,[4] gathers, defends, and preserves for Himself unto everlasting life a chosen communion[5] in the unity of the true faith;[6] and that I am and forever shall remain a living member of this communion.[7] [1]Gen. 26:4. [2]Jn. 10:10. [3]Eph. 1:10-13. [4]Rom. 1:16; Isa. 59:21; Rom. 10:14-17; Eph. 5:26. [5]Rom. 8:29-30; Mt. 16:18; Eph. 4:3- 6. [6]Acts 2:46; Ps. 71:18; I Cor. 11:26; Jn. 10:28-30; I Cor. 1:8-9. [7]I Jn. 3:21; I Jn. 2:19; *Gal. 3:28. 55. What do you understand by the “communion of saints?” First, that believers, one and all, as members of the Lord Jesus Christ, are partakers with Him in all His treasures and gifts;[1] second, that each one must feel himself bound to use his gifts readily and cheerfully for the advantage and welfare of other members.[2] [1]I Jn. 1:3. [2]I Cor. 12:12-13, 21; 13:5-6; Phil. 2:4-6; *Heb. 3:14. 56. What do you believe concerning the “forgiveness of sins?” That God, for the sake of Christ's satisfaction,[1] will no more remember my sins, nor the sinful nature with which I have to struggle all my life long;[2] but graciously imputes to me the righteousness of Christ, that I may nevermore come into condemnation.[3] [1]I Jn. 2:2. [2]II Cor. 5:19, 21; Rom. 7:24-25; Ps. 103:3, 10-12; Jer. 31:34; Rom. 8:1-4. [3]Jn. 3:18; *Eph. 1:7; *Rom. 4:7-8; 7:18. Church Office Suite 3.17, 32 Delhi Rd, North Ryde NSW 2113 OFFERING Offering is part of our worship to God. The Bible gives us an enduring principle of tithing of our gross income as the baseline for the Christian’s worship through giving (2 Cor 9:7; Malachi 3:8-10). If every church member gave 10%, we would have enough financial resources for all the gospel ministry God is calling our church to do. Let the Spirit guide you in all final matters. COMMUNITY BIBLE READING Monday 25 May 1 Chronicles 26 / Ephesians 1 Tuesday 26 May 1 Chronicles 27 / Ephesians 2 Wednesday 27 May 1 Chronicles 28 / Ephesians 3 Thursday 28 May 1 Chronicles 29 / Ephesians 4 Friday 29 May 2 Chronicles 1 / Ephesians 5 Saturday 30 May Psalm 74 PRAYING THROUGH YOUR PEN DISCUSSION QUESTIONS Why is the diversity of gifts, roles, strengths and weaknesses within the Church something to thank God for? Why did God deliberately compose the body of many parts, each with varying roles? How does the headship of Christ help to focus the activities of the members of the body? What was the most helpful/challenging/encouraging part of the sermon for you? PRAY FOR OUR MISSIONARIES THE HANS Joshua and Christina Han are back in Melbourne with their two sons. Please pray for them as they find rest, catch up with loved ones, prepare for ministry and mission work ahead, the uncertainty of timing of returning to their mission field due to COVID-19, and their team members that have remained in South Asia to help aid the affects of COVID-19 (for their health and safety). May God continue to spread the gospel and His word in spite of the challenges of the current situation. PRAYER FOCUS FOR OPPRESSED PEOPLES THROUGH IJM AFRICA & EUROPE Praise God that we have been able to foster relationships in Kenya between the police and the local grassroots justice centres that are doing so much good work monitoring police abuses and supporting survivors. This past week IJM and the justice centres presented hand-washing stations to the police to show our support for good policing, and recognition of the risks that they are taking to carry out their work during the pandemic. Pray that this relationship will be strengthened and that police would sincerely engage with the justice centres in dialogues that will help ensure policing is responsible, professional and truly in service to the community. SOUTH ASIA Praise God for a successful rescue operation this week, led by a police unit recently trained by IJM. After IJM trained these officers in February, they began working on the case of a missing 17-year-old girl who was suspected to have been trafficked across state lines. IJM was able to support police for weeks as they gathered evidence and pinpointed her whereabouts. They found her on Monday in the custody of traffickers who were attempting to force her into the sex trade — but thankfully rescued her before she could be sold. Praise God for the effective work of this team, and pray for this girl's ongoing recovery as we help her get home safely.
1. Adoration Praise the Father for His attributes and actions 2. Confession Confess and acknowledge your sinfulness 3. Thanksgiving Thank Jesus for His salvation 4. Supplication Ask the Spirit to transform you
