(A.W. Tozer) “Scholars can interpret the past; it takes prophets to interpret the present. (Walter Lippmann) “No saint, no hero, no discoverer, no prophet, no leader ever did his work cheaply and easily, comfortably and painlessly, and no people was ever great which did not pass through the valley of the shadow of death on its way to greatness.”
Presider: David Daebii Choi Preacher: Jim Jung CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 89:1-4 “I will sing of the steadfast love of theLord, forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations. For I said, “Steadfast love will be built up forever; in the heavens you will establish your faithfulness.” You have said, “I have made a covenant with my chosen one; I have sworn to David my servant: ‘I will establish your offspring forever, and build your throne for all generations.’ .” SILENT CONFESSION Let us prepare our hearts by privately confessing our sins to our loving Heavenly Father. Be honest before God, and bear your heart and soul to Him. Thank Him and Praise Him for the good things; and confess those sins you knowingly and unknowingly commit, even the sin of omitting the good that you ought to have done. (Silent Private Prayer) ASSURANCE OF PARDON (In Christ, our sins are covered!) Psalm 32:1-2 “Blessed is the one whose transgression is forgiven, whose sin is covered. Blessed is the man against whom the Lord counts no iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit.” PRAYER OF ADORATION AFFIRMATION OF FAITH Heidelberg Catechism – Lord’s Day #20 – OF GOD THE SON 53. The Bible gives us an enduring principle of tithing of our gross income as the baseline for the Christian’s worship through giving (2 Cor 9:7; Malachi 3:8-10). If every church member gave 10%, we would have enough financial resources for all the gospel ministry God is calling our church to do. Let the Spirit guide you in all final matters. What does it mean to “prophesy” today, and how can you exercise it? Have you ever seen someone exercise the “speaking of tongue”?How does today’s sermon reconcile with your experience? What was the most helpful/challenging/encouraging part of the sermon for you? PRAY FOR OUR MISSIONARIES THE HANS Joshua and Christina Han are back in Melbourne with their two sons. Please pray for them as they find rest, catch up with loved ones, prepare for ministry and mission work ahead, the uncertainty of timing of returning to their mission field due to COVID-19, and their team members that have remained in South Asia to help aid the affects of COVID-19 (for their health and safety). May God continue to spread the gospel and His word in spite of the challenges of the current situation. PRAYER FOCUS FOR OPPRESSED PEOPLES THROUGH IJM LATIN AMERICA Pray for the millions of women and children in Central America suffering sexual and physical abuse due to the increase of violence resulting from lockdowns to contain COVID-19. As calls to helplines significantly increase due to domestic and sexual abuse through the region, pray for courage for victims to break the silence. Also pray for quick response from local authorities to protect them and for our team's safety as we continue to support local authorities during this pandemic SOUTH-EAST ASIA Pray for peace to fill the hearts and minds of the seven children rescued last week, and the three children rescued this week, out of cybersex trafficking in the Philippines. Pray for their complete healing and restoration. We also pray for the children who are still suffering from the abuse and violence of online sexual exploitation. Pray for God's favour on ongoing investigations — that they will lead to rescue and arrest operations and many more children living in safety.
