Every Learner. Every Day.
Fall BE Week was a huge success! Every student participated in community building activities during afternoon Advisory. In morning Advisory every student engaged in learning more about how to BE the Best Bulldog by focusing on the AMS Core Value of the day (PRESENT, PREPARED, POSITIVE, THOROUGH, KIND). When an adult at AMS observes a student exhibiting a core value they will often give the student a green "Be" recognition slip. These slips can be used in the school store for a small reward. Make sure you ask your child if they have received a "BE" slip. Many students have already received BE Slips for Being the Best Bulldog they can BE! September's Bulldog of the Month recipients were Devon Barnes, Alice Jansen-Whealey, Skylar Keever, Skyler King, Anna Belle Lachman, Sebastian Arauz, Ava Frost, Kendra Hammonds, Deanna Mobley and Oscar Uhalde.
Picture Day was September 26. Every student had their picture taken for the yearbook. Instructions for placing orders went home with students. Last day to order is October 8. If your student was absent that day, retakes will be October 29. If your student had a picture taken and wants to have a retake he/she should bring their order form and $5.00 to have another picture taken.

We are looking forward to having the 7th and 8th grade band members perform at All Band Night on Friday, October 11th at the Varsity Football game vs Meigs! Students will need to be at the high school that evening at 5:45 pm wearing their Athens Band T-Shirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes. On Thursday, October 10th, the 7th and 8th grade band students will be dismissed from AMS at 2 pm and ride a bus to the high school to practice with the high school band in preparation for this performance. More detailed information has been sent home with your student. After this performance, we will work as a band during class to prepare for our first concert, which takes place on Wednesday, December 4 at 7:00 pm in the AMS Auditorium. In addition to preparation for this concert, we will continue improving students' individual instrumental music skills. Please be encouraging your student to be practicing several days a week for a total of 80 minutes a week! I am very proud of the students' dedication, and can't wait to see how much they improve over the course of the year. Thanks for your continued support of the Athens Middle School band Program!
