8th Grade Graduation
We've had a strong start, and our first Chorus Concert of the semester will take place on Sunday, March 22, at the Athens High School Auditorium. The AMS choirs will be special guests at the Athens High School concert, and will sing both alone and in combination with the high school choirs. The concert will begin at 2 pm, though singers will need to be there at 1 pm for our only combined rehearsal. Also, please mark your calendars for the Athens Middle School Spring Concert, at 7 pm on Monday, May 11 in the AMS auditorium. Its sure to be a fun one!
Attention all 8th Grade Parents: The 8th Grade Graduation Party planning is already underway. Opportunities to volunteer and make donations will soon be available and communicated. If you would like to be part of the planning committee, please contact AMSPTO@athenscsd.org.
Upcoming Testing Dates
AMS will be testing in ELA on April 7 and 9. Science will test April 22, and April 28 and 30 we will test in Math. Please help your students be on time to school and try to avoid appointments during these days.
Our third quarter ends March 6. Report cards will be distributed on Friday, March 20th.
Parents and Guardians are invited to join the Athens Middle School Parent Teacher Organization. Online membership forms and the schedule of meetings can be found on the AMS PTO link on the AMS website. Any questions can be sent to AMSPTO@athenscsd.org. PTO helps with the book fair, helps with Career Day, sponsors Advisory classes, provides meals for staff during Parent-Teacher Conferences, and helps with the celebration for Eighth Grade Graduation. Our next meeting will be held in the AMS conference room on March 6th at 12:00 pm. Please contact the PTO AMSPTO@athenscsd.org to add items to our agenda. Meeting minutes will be emailed to all members and are available on our website. Families can support middle school initiatives by clipping and sending in Box Tops for Education. Students can turn Box Tops in to the envelope in the cafeteria or to their advisory teacher.

8th Grade DC Trip
The AMS Band will have a Spring Band Concert this Thursday, March 5, at 7 pm in the AMS Auditorium. Remember that the Spring All Band Concert is Sunday, May 3, at 3:00 pm at Athens High School. Currently, students participating in Solo and Ensemble contest should have their music. It is important to spend time practicing this music in addition to music for class. The solo and ensemble students should also set up times before or after school to work with one of the band directors on their music. The solo and ensemble performances will take place Saturday, April 18 at the Gallia Academy High School. More details about their exact performance time that day will be sent home closer to the event. The cost is $16 for solos and $20 for ensembles (split by the number of members in the group). Please make checks payable to Athens Band Boosters.
