Thanksgiving Intentions
Every year around this time, we find ourselves getting caught up in how busy life can feel. The holidays are arriving and with that comes the need to feel on top of everything. Finances, family plans, friend’s holiday parties, even work deadlines before traveling home. It becomes easy to quickly lose sight of what’s in front of you, and events and moments that should be celebrated turn into something we stress about. Thanksgiving, for example, is intended to be a day of gratitude and a chance to spend time with the people who matter most. It is so easy to get wrapped up in whose home we spend it in or what will be served for dinner. We’re all guilty of it, and more often than not, afterward we find ourselves reflecting on how the time has too quickly gone by. This year, as our team prepares for the Holiday season once again. We have made an intention to try and simplify the Thanksgiving holiday back into what it was truly intended for. A whole day of practicing gratitude. For our team, this meant a bunch of different things. Some years what you’re most grateful for is the simplest of things, it doesn’t have to be complicated to be true.
While for others, this day will be spent focusing on some of the great things that have come out of more trying times. After we went around and shared what it is that each of us is especially grateful for, we decided we’d like to take the time to share our thoughts with you all as well. In hopes, that you too can take a moment to reflect on what you’d like to focus your gratitude on this year. We promise it’s worth it! Kimberly- “I am grateful for my health, my family, and amazing clients and friends that have shown us so much support and love throughout this journey” Hank- “I am grateful for the doctors that caught Kimberly’s cancer early and helped shepherd us through her surgeries and treatments. In addition, I am thankful for the amazing support provided by our FSG Team, friends and clients during this period” Nick- “I am grateful for my Mom's recovery”
Jenni- “I’m most grateful for all of the loving family and friends in my life. I’m also especially grateful for all of the memories my fiancé and I have made this past year and for the beautiful places we’ve had the opportunity to see together” Chris-“I’m very grateful that all of my friends and family are in great health! I’m also grateful for the past year and the chance I’ve had to continue my career with a great firm, that just happens to be my family" Aimee- "I am grateful for having an adventurous husband that takes me out of my comfort zone with racing cars on the weekends, and of course that we always make it home safely" And what Devon is most grateful for is something we are all incredibly grateful for… We are so thrilled to announce that in June of 2020 Devon and her husband Josh are going to be parents! The FSG family continues to grow. This time next year they will have a beautiful new baby to spend the holidays with, we can’t wait to continue to share updates with you all.

Recipe of the Month
Instructions: Make the crispy onions: Preheat the oven to 450°F. Line 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper and lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. In a large bowl, toss the onions with the oil, flour, panko, and salt. Spread evenly onto the baking sheets and bake for 25 to 35 minutes, tossing every 10 minutes (rotating the pans in the oven as necessary), until lightly browned and crispy. Remove from the oven and lower the oven temperature to 400°F. Prepare the filling: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and set a large bowl of ice water nearby. Drop the green beans into the boiling water and blanch for 4 minutes. Drain, and immediately immerse in the ice water to stop the cooking process. Drain, and transfer to a towel to dry. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet, add the mushrooms, and cook until soft, 8 to 10 minutes. Stir in the tamari, garlic, and thyme. Sprinkle the flour over the mushrooms and stir again. Add the almond milk and mustard and stir to combine. Simmer until thickened, whisking often, for 20 minutes. Stir in the Parmesan cheese and pepper. Spread ⅓ of the sauce into the baking dish. Layer with green beans and top with the remaining sauce. Sprinkle the onions on top and bake, covered, for 10 minutes. Uncover and bake 10 more minutes. If the onions start to brown too much, cover the dish for the remainder of the baking time. Garnish with sprinkles of panko and Parmesan, if desired. *Recipe from Love and Lemons

Nick's November Read
A Gentleman in Moscow: Amor Towles In 1922, Count Alexander Rostov is deemed an unrepentant aristocrat by a Bolshevik tribunal, and is sentenced to house arrest in the Metropol, a grand hotel across the street from the Kremlin. Rostov, an indomitable man of erudition and wit, has never worked a day in his life, and must now live in an attic room while some of the most tumultuous decades in Russian history are unfolding outside the hotel’s doors. Unexpectedly, his reduced circumstances provide him entry into a much larger world of emotional discovery. Brimming with humor, a glittering cast of characters, and one beautifully rendered scene after another, this singular novel casts a spell as it relates the count’s endeavor to gain a deeper understanding of what it means to be a man of purpose.
