In the Image of…
“Ten little toes. Ten skinny fingers. Two blue eyes. Two ears. One nose that looks like grandma’s and a chin that looks like her daddy’s.”
Such were the various expressions upon the birth of a baby girl to a young couple, who was their first child.
If you have been a new parent, or been around parents of a newborn, words such as these are common. In fact, they are interesting, curious, and at times, down right hilarious – such as comparing the hairline of a child with no hair to their bald grandfather!
We expect children to look like their family members. We are proud when we can accurately point out that they have their mother’s eyes, or their aunt’s dimples, or their grandmother’s smile. It is exciting to watch a child grown and see who they resemble as they move toward adulthood. Equally exciting is when we see their personalities develop, and seek to determine which family characteristics we see as they grow in years.
As adults, as much as we enjoy seeing children grow, we may sometimes fear the fact that we have turned into our mother or father… characterized very well by a young man who tells “dad jokes,” or the 30 something woman who said, “one day I opened my mouth—and my mother came out!”
We all however, have a parent whose image which want to resemble, who we want to reflect in our daily lives, and that is our Heavenly Father! The one who is loving, giving, patient, fair-minded, just and fair, strong to defend, and so much more!
We know we will never fully reflect Him, due to our inadequacies and sinful condition, but in His loving mercy, God the Father has given us his only Son, Jesus Christ to be our Savior from sin and death and the power of the evil one.
This special gift was given to us over 2000 years in the image of our almighty and ever-loving God as a baby in a manger – who came with ten toes, ten fingers, two eyes, two ears, a nose, and a heart filled with love.
May your family celebrations center around this baby who came for us, is with us, and who will come again.
Merry Christmas Mt Calvary Family!

She always gives her best effort on her schoolwork, and continues to show growth in the area of academics. Her hard work has earned her Honor Roll recognition during the first quarter of the year. Her Christian values are on shown by the way she conducts herself, and by her consistent worship attendance. She displays responsibility by turning her assignments in on time, and completing them with care. Sara adds greatly to the classroom with her positive attitude. Kaylina Ceja has earned November’s Student of the Month in seventh grade. KK has steadily made progress this year becoming a student who embodies CARE. She has become a stronger academic student by asking more questions and completing her assignments on time. She is putting forth the extra effort needed in transitioning to the academics here at MCL. KK comes into the classroom ready to learn and with a willingness to tackle any challenge put before her. She has a positive attitude and upbeat personality which makes her well-liked by her peers. Her communication skills are getting stronger each day. KK is a great addition to our school and, I’m sure, will continue to have a strong seventh grade year and be ready for any academic challenges in the future. Congratulations!

Daniel Fung is the Fourth Grade Student of the Month. He has shown a Christ-like attitude in his work in Religion and in his interaction with other students. Recently he participated in sending Christmas cards to deployed service members and wrote nearly 30 himself. Daniel takes his academics seriously and is prompt and thorough with his homework assignments. His work is always neat and shows he takes pride in it. The questions he asks in class are thought through and reflect his interest in each topic. Daniel is one of my most responsible puppy handlers. He is kind, compassionate, and attentive to Fame when he's in charge of her. It has been a pleasure watching Daniel and his progress this year. I anticipate him having a great one! Congratulations!
