The health and well-being of our members and their families is our top priority at this time, and our thoughts remain with those affected by this public health emergency. We are closely monitoring the current and potential effects of the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) and implementing precautionary measures to ensure the safety of our Central Florida community. Given the fluid nature of COVID-19 here in Central Florida, and in accordance with the CDC and Florida Department of Health guidance, we have made the difficult decision to cancel all in-person events through June 30, 2020. We remain optimistic and believe we will be able to resume our in-person events in the near future. Please visit our website for further updates from the CFA Orlando Board.

It was fantastic to see so many thought leaders and financial professionals come together for a night of networking, entertainment, and financial markets education. This year marks the fourth consecutive year we've hosted a sellout crowd, with over 200 attendees in attendance! For those not in attendance, our featured speaker was Patrick O'Shaughnessy, CFA, Chief Executive Officer at O'Shaughnessy Asset Management & host of "Invest Like the Best" podcast, who provided an overview of "Trail Magic" and encouraged the crowd to be "blue blazers" inside and outside the office. Michael Falk, CFA, Partner at Focus Consulting Group & Author, was a fantastic guest moderator and led an interactive Q&A session between Patrick and the audience. Everyone in attendance also received a copy of Michael's latest book, "Get to Work … on OUR Future".
We are proud to announce that Chris Cannon, CFA Society Orlando Advocacy Chair, organized the the first-ever state-wide Ethics Challenge to help create a more ethical finance industry! The challenge was hosted on February 7th, at Florida A & M University, School of Business & Industry. Ten Florida universities and colleges participated in the challenge, with UF Warrington College of Business being named our 2020 CFA Societies of Florida Ethics Challenge State Champions! The Challenge even received recognition from Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis! Although he was unable to attend in-person, he did issue an official letter thanking everyone participation and for their “efforts to create a stronger, more ethical financial industry.” Chris’s efforts on this initiative has helped all Florida Societies to increase engagement of professors, stakeholders as well as local and state politicians while at the same time promoting the highest standards of ethics, education, and professional excellence.
