PARENT - TEACHER INTERVIEWS
Thank you to all the book club members for their creativity and wonderful fall crafts they made for the bulletin board! It looks amazing! Check it out if you are in the school! Next month the Book Club members will be making their own mini race cars. Don't forget to start collecting your empty cardboard paper towel rolls!
Parent Teacher Interviews - November 5 & 7. To schedule an interview, parents need to go to the website: School Appointments Instructions have been sent to you via email.
There are LRC Passes that you can sign out from our school library!
As a full-school field trip, we will be going to the Expo Center in Edmonton to experience the Metis Discovery Day - Leaving the school at 8:45 and returning at 3:00. This is a day for all of our students to experience the Metis culture, some examples will be beading, fiddling and storytelling. All students will need to bring a bagged lunch (where everything is disposable) - no backpacks. We will find a spot for our students to sit down together and enjoy our lunch. Your child's classroom teacher will be requesting parent volunteers to come and help with this event. Once you are confirmed as a parent supervisor, please keep in mind that parents will not fit on the bus, so we are asking you to carpool together. This event has free admission and well as supplemented busing. The remaining bus fees will be paid for by the PTA. Thank you to our Parent Group!
This month the focus will be on online and smartphone safety. Here are five phone safety tips provided by the Canadian Centre for Child Protection;
Take the time to learn about what features are included on the phone.
Early on, set the expectation that you will monitor your teen’s use of their phone.
Explore the possibility of blocking access to sites (such as those with sexually explicit content) by using the settings on the device and/or parental control apps or by contacting the carrier/service provider.
Set a time every evening at which all technology, including phones, are shut off in the house.
Discuss the importance of not responding to harassing, harmful or unsolicited calls or messages sent to them and to save these types of messages.
For further information on online and phone safety check out Cybertip.ca and the Canadian Centre for Child Protection.
