Letter from the ceo (pg. 2)
Dear valued member-
Given the state of things, it seems almost impossible not to acknowledge COVID-19 in my quarterly update. So far, two of our core markets (i.e.,New York & California) have been among the hardest hit by the virus. With large gatherings being inadvisable, we’ve seen Broadway theatres shutdown, tours canceled, and other venues temporarily closed. The negative impact of COVID-19 on the entertainment industry is undeniable.
However, there is strength in numbers. The credit union has grown to over 25,000 members with over $237 million in assets. This is both the highest number of members and the largest asset size in our organization's history. This reality will help us as we go through this pandemic, specifically in working to assist our members. Our employees understand that our member-owners are top priority. We take every member request seriously and work to find the best solutions. Currently, our lending staff is focused both on assisting borrowers in need of payment flexibility, and extending new credit to members in need of capital.
In many respects, 2020 is going to be a challenging year. However, the credit union’s board of directors and staff remain dedicated to serving you, our members. In the fall of 2019, the credit union reaffirmed its purpose as: “to financially empower members of the creative community.” As we move forward, we will keep this purpose close to our hearts.
On a lighter note, I am pleased to report that the credit union has been living its purpose by stepping up its charitable giving. So far this year, we have partnered with The Actors Fund to sponsor a series of financial education classes, and have made monetary and in kind donations to Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS, and the SAG-AFTRA Foundation. With the ongoing health crisis, I am confident that our donations to these organizations were well placed.
Ultimately as we go through these difficult times, please remember that the credit union is here to serve you.

Our annual membership meeting that was originally scheduled for Friday, March 27th has been postponed due to the situation surrounding coronavirus.
A new date and time will be announced in the near future. Thanks for your patience!
Staff members from ActorsFCU and Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS.
ActorsFCU in the Community
In February, the credit union presented Broadway Cares / Equity Fights AIDS with a donation check for $900. This donation money comes from the sale of our annual datebooks.
In BCEFA's capable hands, our modest donation will provide two months of lifesaving medication for people without health insurance, and provide 160 meals for people who would otherwise have to go without food.
This experience shows that a little kindness can go a long ways.
The credit union is sponsoring a total of eight "Budgeting Nuts & Bolts" classes that will be hosted in New York, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
Budgeting Nuts & Bolts is a single-session workshop focused on identifying financial goals and getting specific about the flow of money in our lives. The class was designed specifically for professionals in the entertainment industry who don't always earn and spend money the same way every month.
If you're interested in attending one of these free classes, please visit our website for full details and to RSVP. Note- due to the global health crisis, class dates are subject to change.
In an effort to step up educational resources for our members, the credit union will be sponsoring classes at The Actors Fund throughout the year.

If you are interested in owning your own house or apartment , ActorsFCU is here for your mortgage needs. Here are some reasons and tips for buying in the spring.
Inventory. Springtime often gives you more properties to choose from. The change in weather makes sellers
more motivated to sell.
Preparation. If you are looking to buy in a new town or city, consider spending a few weekends exploring the area. Learn about restaurants, entertainment, schools and more. This can also be easier to do in the warmer months. Check with the local police department to learn about any potential crime activity.
Prioritize. It's important to know what you 'need' and what you 'want.' Make sure your prioritize the things your really need in a home over the things that are just nice to have. This can include the number of bedrooms
and if the property has a garage. Springtime is the perfect time to consider other amenities such as backyard, deck, or balcony.
Timeline. Buying a home in the spring, will likely mean moving in the early summer, which is perfect if you have
school age children.
Assembling the Right Team. The people you work with on your home buying journey can have a big impact on your experience. Choose a Realtor that is knowledgeable of the market and make sure that they have good reviews. Choose a reputable home inspector, and try to be there during the inspection. Choose a mortgage lender that is transparent about their rates and fees, and makes you feel comfortable with their process.
If you have mortgage or real estate questions, please feel free to send us a message.
